Ingredients

- Instant vanilla pudding mix – creates the creamy base for the dessert
- Whole milk – helps the pudding set smoothly
- Sour cream or plain Greek yogurt – either works; Greek yogurt adds a slight tang
- Angel food cake loaves – cut into cubes for soft, airy layers
- Cherry pie filling – adds sweetness and a pop of fruit flavor
- Whipped topping – keeps the cake light and fluffy
- Sliced almonds – optional, but adds a nice crunch on top
Step by step
- In a large bowl, whisk together the pudding mix, milk, and sour cream until smooth. Set it aside.
- Spread half of the angel food cake cubes in an even layer in a 9×13 dish. Spoon most of the cherry pie filling over the cake and spread it out gently. Add the remaining cake cubes on top.

- Pour the pudding mixture over the cake layers and spread it evenly. Finish with a full layer of whipped topping, then spoon the remaining cherry filling on top. Use a knife to swirl if desired.
- Refrigerate the cake for at least four hours or overnight. Add sliced almonds just before serving.

Tips for Best Results
- Use full fat dairy for the creamiest texture
- Cut the cake cubes evenly for clean layers
- Add the nuts right before serving for crunch
- Use a clear dish to show off the layers if you like

Variations
This Heaven on Earth Cake is very easy to change. I like swapping the cherry filling for blueberry or strawberry when I want a new flavor.
Chocolate pudding works well for a richer version, and crushed graham crackers or toasted coconut make fun topping swaps. You can also build this dessert in individual cups for parties.
Serving suggestion
I usually serve this cake chilled straight from the fridge. It works well for holidays, potlucks, and summer gatherings when heavy desserts feel like too much.

Storage
Store Heaven on Earth Cake covered in the refrigerator. It keeps well for up to three days and actually tastes better after sitting overnight. I do not recommend freezing since the creamy layers can change texture once thawed.
