Tips for Best Results

  • Stir halfway through cooking to ensure even flavor distribution.
  • For extra sauce, add more broth or water to create a delicious gravy.
  • Keep them warm in the crockpot on the ‘keep warm’ setting when serving at a party.
  • The au jus gravy mix and ranch seasoning mix add a lot of sodium. You don’t need to add any salt. Use low-sodium broth or water if you want to cut back on salt.
  • Adjust the spice level by using fewer peperoncini peppers or swapping some juice for broth.

Variations

Little smokies are great, but kielbasa or smoked sausage make for a chunkier, more filling option.

If you like a little less kick, swap the pepperoncini juice for low-sodium beef broth or water. You can also cut back on the juice and mix it with water or broth—¼ cup juice + ¼ cup broth works well!

Serving suggestions

These little smokies are a party favorite. Just set out some toothpicks and watch them disappear! They also make a great main course. Serve them over cheesy mashed potatoes, white rice, or even tucked into a toasted hoagie roll then add my coleslaw or roasted veggies for a complete meal.

Storage

Cool any leftovers before storing them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Reheat on medium low on the stove or in the microwave, stirring occasionally. If the sauce has thickened too much, a little water or beef broth will bring it back to the right consistency.
