Lemonade is a hot commodity in our home, especially in the summertime. We love trying different drink recipes and flavors and when we get a hot summer day here in south Georgia there is nothing better than whipping up a frozen lemonade to refresh you!

blender with carton of strawberries, lemon and bowl of sugar

Ingredients

This recipe only requires three ingredients, and no pre-made or packaged lemonade like most other recipes I have found.

  • fresh or frozen strawberries
  • lemon juice
  • sugar

I like to make this in my single serve cup on my Ninja blender but you could easily double or triple the recipe and mix it up in a full sized blender as well.

Step by step

It’s super fast to make this frozen treat.

  1. Hull strawberries and put into the blender.
  2. Add lemon juice and sugar and pulse to blend.
  3. Add ice and blend again until thick and uniform.
  4. Adjust the strawberry puree for your desired thickness by adding water if necessary. You can keep it thick enough to eat with a spoon or thin it out to a more slushy type consistency to drink with a straw.
  5. Taste and adjust with additional sugar or lemon if more sweetness or tartness is desired.

See? Too easy!

I love that you can adjust the recipe to your own taste. Depending on how sweet your strawberries are, it may taste different batch to batch, but adding the extra sugar or lemon juice lets you adjust it until it is perfect!

Note: If you use frozen strawberries instead of fresh berries you will need to add less ice and more water to get the proper consistency. They usually need a little extra sugar as well.

I’ve been making this almost daily lately for my youngest son, he loves it on the tart side!

Cocktail version

For the grownups, you can easily make this into a frozen cocktail by substituting some of the water with a liquor like vodka, gin, rum or alcohol such as white wine or white sangria. To make it extra special coat the rim of the glass in sugar and garnish with a lemon wedge, mint sprig, or sliced strawberry.
