The holiday season is upon us, and I’m excited to share one of my go-to super easy appetizers: the Christmas Tree Cheese Platter. It’s festive, fun, and unbelievably easy to make with just four ingredients.

Why I love this recipe

  • The Christmas tree-shaped cutting board adds a fun, holiday touch.
  • It’s a crowd-pleaser with flavors that pair well with various sides and drinks.
  • With just a few ingredients and no cooking involved, cleanup is a breeze.

Ingredients

Christmas tree cheese platter ingredients in bowls on counter
  • Colby Jack cheese
  • Gouda cheese
  • cherry tomatoes
  • fresh rosemary sprigs

Step by step

  1. Cut the Colby Jack and Gouda cheeses into small, bite-sized cubes. Wash the cherry tomatoes.
  2. On a large tree-shaped cutting board (I used this one), start by arranging the Colby Jack at the top of the tree followed by a line of cherry tomatoes.
  3. Add the Gouda cheese cubes, then a fresh rosemary sprig. Repeat to fill the bottom half of the tree.

If you don’t have a Christmas tree-shaped cutting board you can simply lay the cheese out in the shape on a large rectangle board.

Tips for Best Results

  • Cut Uniformly: Make sure the cheese cubes are all the same size for a polished and uniform look.
  • Fresh Herbs: Use fresh rosemary sprigs to add a festive touch and a wonderful aroma.
  • Chill Before Serving: Refrigerate the platter for a few minutes to keep the cheese firm and fresh.

Variations

You can use a variety of cheeses to customize this cheese board to your taste. Some of my favorites are pepper jack, Irish cheddar, swiss, mozzarella

You can easily make this cheese board a Christmas charcuterie board with add-ins:

  • fruit – dried cranberries, green or red grapes, pomegranate seeds, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries
  • veggies – sliced cucumber, black or green olives, carrot sticks, broccoli florets
  • nuts – almonds, pistachios, pecans
  • meats – pepperoni, prociutto, salami, cut bacon
  • miscellaneous – pretzel sticks, bite-size crackers, ranch oyster crackers

Serving suggestions

This Christmas tree cheese platter is great for any holiday gathering along with other appetizers like prosciutto wrapped breadsticks, olive tapenade, bacon-wrapped jalapeño poppers, and sausage stuffed mushrooms.

Storage

Store leftover cheese in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Replace any wilted rosemary with fresh sprigs to keep the platter fresh and vibrant.
