If you have been around this past week, you know I am on a caramel apple kick! First cute little no bake pies, then a ridiculously delicious dessert pizza and now, an easy peasy cobbler cake. You will love this mix and pour, no frosting needed cake!
I seem to be at this point in my life where simple is better. I have been gravitating towards recipes with minimal ingredients and prep time, making the most of my time by running multiple errands in one trip, even simplifying my wardrobe by introducing more ‘mix & match’ items. So this cake? Simple.
Basic ingredients (you might have everything in your pantry right now!), just mix, pour and bake, drizzle with a little caramel and dessert is done.
And oh, so delicious!
Ingredients
- butter
- all purpose flour
- baking powder
- light brown sugar
- granulated sugar
- milk
- vanilla extract
- apple pie filling
- caramel topping or caramel sweetened condensed milk
Step by step
- Mix everything but the apple pie filling and caramel in a bowl to make the batter.
- Pour into a baking dish.
- Top with apple pie filling (don’t stir!)
- Bake for an hour.
- Serve warm with ice cream and caramel if desired!
See? Easy.
So just pile it up in a bowl, give it a drizzle of warmed caramel and a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
This cobbler is so versatile. If apple isn’t your thing, use your family’s favorite flavor of pie filling – raspberry, blueberry, cherry or peach. Drizzle with chocolate or butterscotch instead. Fresh whipped cream would be delicious, too!
Serving suggestions
This Caramel Apple Cobbler Cake is best served warm, drizzled with a little caramel and topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. See how the ice cream melts a little into the nooks and crannies of the cake? Why yes, I will have another bite!

Gosh I love fall and this is exactly why….best time of year for food, no doubt about it! Great recipe that I can’t wait to try, pinned 🙂
This looks great! I think I wanna make it for family night on Monday
Hi Keri
I would love to make this CARAMEL APPLE COBBLER CAKE but I live in New Zealand where we use the metric system and I can convert the oven temps and measurements etc but you don’t have a size for the can of caramel sweetened condensed milk. Could you please post this info for me?
Thanks very much
Pam
Hi Pam – The can is 14 oz. but feel free to use caramel ice cream topping or homemade caramel, too. You don’t necessarily have to use the entire 14 oz. can 🙂
Thank you very much Keri for the prompt reply! I will certainly give this a go..
Me again!
Melt butter in a 9×9 or 10 inch round baking dish.
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugars, vanilla extract and milk.
Pour batter in baking dish.
Just wanted to check if the mixing bowl ingredients are just placed on top of melted butter, or is it mixed into butter?
Sorry to be a pain but I hate baking if I stuff it up.
Pam
Hi Pam – the beauty of this dessert is the simplicity. Just pour the mixing bowl ingredients over the melted butter – not mixed in 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by!
Thanks again for your prompt reply Keri, it is gratefully received.
Pam
Turned out great! Thanks!
