This dish is a lifesaver on busy weeknights when you’re pressed for time but still want a delicious and easy meal. The best part? You only need one pan for cooking, which means minimal cleanup afterwards! Loaded with delicious flavors, it’s an exceptional dinner choice that the whole family will love.

Ingredients

  • lean ground beef
  • garlic
  • dry bowtie pasta
  • tomatoes
  • tomato or marinara sauce
  • chicken broth
  • dried oregano
  • onion flakes
  • salt and pepper
  • cottage cheese
  • mozzarella cheese
  • Parmesan cheese, for topping (optional)
  • parsley, for topping (optional)

Step by step

  1. In a large skillet, add the ground beef, salt, pepper, oregano, onion flakes, and minced garlic. Cook over medium heat until the beef is fully cooked and browned.
  2. Add the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, chicken broth, and pasta noodles to the pan. Stir until everything is well combined. Cover and bring to a boil over medium heat. Then, reduce the heat and simmer for about 14-18 minutes, or until the noodles are cooked through.
  1. Once the noodles are cooked, remove the skillet from the heat. Add the cottage cheese and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese, stirring well until everything is combined.
  2. Top with the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Cover and cook for another 1-2 minutes, or until the cheese on top has melted.
  3. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and parsley. Serve and enjoy!

Tips for Best Results

  • If you want it spicy you can add some red pepper flakes.
  • You can use water instead of chicken broth, it’ll have less flavor though.
  • Make sure the pasta noodles are covered in broth, if you need to add more broth, add some till the noodles are covered.

  • add a layer of spinach or mushrooms for a veggie boost.
  • use ricotta cheese in place of cottage cheese for a richer texture.
  • try different pasta shapes like penne or fusilli for fun, you can also break up lasagna noodles if you want the more traditional look of lasagna

  • 3 tsp garlic, minced
  • 8 oz bowtie pasta, dry
  • 1 14.5 oz can diced tomatoes
  • 8 oz can tomato sauce
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 1/2 tsp oregano, dried
  • 1 tbsp onion flakes, dried and minced
  • 1/4 tsp salt and pepper
  • 2/3 cup cottage cheese
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, divided
  • Parmesan cheese
  • parsley, for toppings (optional)
