    Tips for best results

    • use a large skillet so it doesn't overflow when you stir in the pasta

    Recipe variations and substitutions

    • use tomato sauce instead of marinara-you may need to add more seasoning to up the flavor
    • add sliced mushroom or diced bell peppers when you add the onion
    • stir in diced tomatoes
    • substitute mozzarella, cheddar, or Mexican blend cheese for the colby jack
    • use cream of mushroom condensed soup, heavy cream, or half and half instead of sour cream
    • top the dish with fresh basil and/or parmesan cheese
    • use a different type of pasta like macaroni, spaghetti, or bowties
    • omit the cheese all together

I LOVED this recipe. I did make some modifications to meet my family's diatery restrictions, gf, df, low saturated fat. I used ground white meat chicken, gf spiral noodles, replaced the sour cream with home made ricotta from cashew nuts to make it creamy and vegan Follow Your Heart cheddar vegan cheese. It was so incredible. Definitely will make again.
