Are you ready to ditch the store-bought cookies and bake something insanely delicious from scratch?

Then gather around, ’cause today we’re whipping up a batch of dreamy cream cheese sugar cookies that are about to become your new obsession.

These delightful treats are like sugar cookies on steroids – the cream cheese adds richness, a touch of tang, and makes for unforgettable soft cookies that’s sure to leave you reaching for seconds (or thirds!).

Why I love this recipe

  • Unlike regular sugar cookie recipes, these cookies come together super fast, no cookie cutters or rolling out sugar cookie dough on a lightly floured surface, just mix and roll into balls!
  • Once you try the recipe as written you can experiment and make them your own. Try to flavor them with lemon or almond extract instead of the vanilla, or top with cinnamon or sprinkles instead of powdered sugar. It’s a great base recipe for experimenting in the kitchen.

Tips for Best Results

  • Make sure your butter and cream cheese are softened to room temperature before mixing to ensure a smooth dough.
  • Don’t overmix the dough once you add the dry ingredients, as this can result in tough cookies.
  • For uniform cookies, use a cookie scoop to portion out the dough before shaping.
  • Use parchment paper or silicone baking mats to prevent sticking.

Serving suggestions

For a classic combination, enjoy them with a refreshing glass of cold milk. For a more indulgent treat, sandwich two cookies together with a generous dollop of creamy cream cheese frosting or buttercream frosting.

And for a cozy afternoon snack, nothing beats pairing these cookies with a steaming cup of hot coffee or our Passion Tea Lemonade, served alongside Chocolate Cream Pie Dip.

Storing tips

To keep your sugar cookies tasting fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, these cookies can be frozen either baked or unbaked.

If freezing unbaked dough, shape it into balls and freeze on a baking sheet before transferring to a freezer bag for up to two months. Baked cookies can be stored in a freezer-safe container for up to three months.
