Why I love this recipe

Let me tell you, folks, this recipe holds a special place in my heart (and stomach) for a few reasons.

  • the aroma that fills the kitchen as these babies bake is absolutely heavenly
  • the combination of cinnamon, sugar, and creamy frosting is like a warm hug for your taste buds.
  • like our cream cheese stuffed monkey bread, this recipe is so easy because we start with premade dough!

Ingredients

monkey bread muffins ingredients
  • Grand cinnamon rolls
  • white granulated sugar
  • brown sugar
  • ground cinnamon
  • ground nutmeg
  • unsalted butter

Equipment

This recipe calls for a jumbo muffin pan (affiliate link). If you use a regular muffin pan the bake time will be reduced, so keep an eye on them in the oven.

Step by Step

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add the white sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Use a fork to blend together until combined.
  3. Cut each of the refrigerated Grands biscuits into 4 pieces. Coat each piece of biscuit dough in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  4. Fill each jumbo muffin cup halfway full with the coated cinnamon rolls.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix the melted butter and brown sugar until combined.
  1. Pour this mixture over each half-filled muffin well, coating all the pieces.
  2. Fill the jumbo muffin pan the other half of the way full with biscuit pieces.
  3. Cover again with another generous coating of the butter mixture.
  4. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes, coating with another layer of the butter mixture, 5 minutes before it is done.
  5. Melt the frosting in the cinnamon roll container slightly in the microwave.
  6. Drizzle frosting on top of each monkey bread muffin.
