Recently, I shared the White Christmas themed teacher gifts that I put together for my son’s teachers. They were almost overflowing with gifts that were {mostly} white – I love a good themed gift! Anyway, one of the goodies tucked in each gift was this 3 ingredient mint sugar scrub! This is such an easy handmade gift!
Why I love this DIY gift
This sugar scrub recipe is an inexpensive yet thoughtful homemade gift that people will WANT to receive. The scent is amazing and transforms your bathroom to a spa-like environment.
Ingredients
This is literally a 5 minute DIY gift and you only need 3 ingredients!
- 2 cups granulated white sugar
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 2 teaspoons peppermint extract
If you don’t have peppermint extract you can substitute another type of mint extract, a skin-safe mint essential oil, or even chopped fresh mint leaves from the garden.
Step by step
To make the scrub, add the sugar, coconut oil, and peppermint extract to a bowl and use a craft stick or plastic spoon to stir them together until combined.
Tips for Best Results
- you can change the oil in this recipe if needed, olive oil, grapeseed oil or sweet almond oil are both very moisturizing and work well in sugar scrubs
- you can change up the extract or essential oils to change the scent of the scrub, some of my favorites are vanilla or almond extract or lemon or lavender essential oils
Gifting suggestions
Package up the mixture in little mason jars and gift with these printable tags! Easy-peasy!

Your Pinterest Party looked like so much fun! Thanks for the great tutorial too. Might just whip some of these up for Jack’s teachers!
My dry skin really needs this. I bet it smells amazing!
Clever, simple, and I LOVE it! This is totally up my alley. Great idea, Keri. Thanks for sharing. Pinning.
This is awesome! Can you use this on your body or just your hands?
I used a body wash to mix with the sugar, so you can use it on both. If you only want a hand scrub, you can mix in your favorite liquid hand soap. So glad you stopped by, Natalie!
It’s Deonna from the Child at Heart blog! I love this post and would love for you to link up to the Merriest Blog Hop and share your creations! This sounds so great! I might have to make these for friends…and myself!
