Halloween is just around the corner, and I couldn’t resist whipping up a batch of these cute Halloween rice krispie treats! They are as easy to make as they are fun, and trust me, everyone will love them.
Just like our Halloween marshmallow pops, these treats are perfect for when you want something fun, festive, and delicious.
Why I love this recipe
- I can whip these up in just 15 minutes, making them perfect for last-minute treats.
- I love playing around with different toppings and candies to make them my own.
- They’re always a crowd-pleaser at any Halloween party, and I enjoy watching everyone enjoy them!
- Making these treats is a fun activity I can do with my kids, letting them help with the mixing and decorating.
Ingredients
- unsalted butter
- mini marshmallows
- pure vanilla extract
- salt
- rice krispies cereal
- Halloween m&m’s
- candy corn
- mini pretzel twists
- sprinkles
- Optional: green candy melts for drizzling
Equipment
- large pot
- 9×13 baking pan
- parchment paper
Step by step
- Lightly grease the bottom of a 9×13 baking pan with cooking spray and line it with parchment paper. This will help the treats come out easily later.
- In a large pot over low heat, melt the butter then add the ½ cup of marshmallow. Stir until melted and smooth.
- Once everything is set, remove the pot from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt.
- Fold in the Rice Krispies cereal, remaining mini marshmallows, mini pretzel twists, M&M’s, candy corn, and sprinkles until well combined.
- Gently spread the mixture into an even layer in the baking pan using a rubber spatula. Be careful not to press too firmly to keep them nice and soft!
- Melt the candy wafers in a piping bag on a low or defrost setting until fully melted, massaging the bag every 30 seconds.
- Once melted, cool for 5 minutes, then snip a small piece off the tip and drizzle over the treats.
- Top with additional M&M’s, pretzels, candy corn, and sprinkles if desired.
- Allow the treats to cool on the counter for 30 minutes to an hour before cutting into squares. Enjoy the spooky goodness!
Tips for Best Results
- When combining the ingredients, be gentle to keep the treats soft and chewy.
- The addition of pretzels provides a nice salty contrast to the sweetness of the candies, but if you prefer, you can replace them with an equal amount of Rice Krispies and add an extra ⅛ teaspoon of salt for flavor.
- Greasing the pan and using parchment paper helps in removing the treats easily.
- Feel free to get creative with shapes and decorations for the perfect Halloween vibe!
Variations
Get creative with your toppings! Swap regular Rice Krispies for cocoa krispies, cocoa pebbles, or cornflakes. Use any M&M’s you prefer but I love the “Ghoul’s Mix Milk Chocolate M&M’s” for a festive flair.
Feel free to add different types of pretzels, like twists or sticks, and break them into smaller pieces if you like. You can even drizzle colorful candy melts on top. There’s no wrong way to dress these up!
Serving suggestions
- arrange them on a spooky-themed platter with other Halloween treats including our Halloween mummy truffles and Halloween chocolate covered strawberries.
- wrap individual treats in clear bags and tie them with orange and black ribbons for a cute giveaway.
Storage
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. I recommend not refrigerating them since that can make them hard and less chewy.
