I love desserts with pineapple like our Southern Pig Pickin’ Cake. I’m also a big fan of dump cakes like my fruit cocktail dump cake, apple pie dump cake, sweet potato dump cake, or lemon lime dump cake, and this delightfully delicious cherry pineapple dump cake.
Why I love this recipe
I love that you just dump some ingredients in a baking dish, pour over cake mix, and top with a buttery mix, and bake.
Boom!
Five minutes prep and this cherry pineapple dump cake is in the oven! It is full of tart cherries and tangy pineapple, then topped with a buttery cake layer, and baked until bubbly and golden!
Ingredients
Just a few simple ingredients are all you need:
- cherry pie filling
- crushed pineapple
- yellow cake mix
- butter
- vanilla extract
- cinnamon
- pecans (optional)
Step by step
Dump cakes are so easy!
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and spray a baking dish with nonstick spray.
- Mix together pineapple and cherry pie filling and spoon into the prepared dish.
- Cover the filling mixture with cake mix. If adding pecans, sprinkle them over the cake mix.
- Stir together butter, vanilla, and cinnamon and pour over the cake mix. Try to moisten as much of the mix as you can.
- Bake for 45 minutes or until it is golden brown and bubbling. (Is your mouth watering yet??)
Just look at that golden brown topping with hints of cherry pineapple filling bubbling out!
Tip: Use real butter, not margarine for the best taste and texture
