Guacamole is so easy to make and can be used in so many different ways! The hardest part is usually finding the main ingredient, ripe avocados, at the grocery store. To be safe, I would plan guacamole ahead of time because you’ll likely have to wait for those avocados to ripen at home. Still, this healthy snack or topping is a great choice for adding healthy fats to your diet, and if you’ve never had it, it might just become your new favorite dip!

What to Eat with Guacamole

You can eat guacamole in a lot of creative ways! Guacamole ingredients can be mild, or you can spice it up with chili powder and jalapeño peppers. However you choose to make it, it will work perfectly with all of these options.

1. Scrambled Eggs

Warm scrambled eggs topped with creamy guacamole, sour cream, and salsa is one of my favorite ways to enjoy this creamy dip because it’s so easy! You can even add in some bell peppers and mushrooms for extra flavor.

If you’re feeding a crowd, try our sheet pan eggs as a substitute, they would be delicious topped with guac!

2. Huevos Rancheros

This traditional Mexican dish is usually topped with avocado slices, but guacamole will take it to the next level! Especially a tangy guacamole recipe with red onion and lemon juice.

3. Hamburgers

This might sound strange, but a dollop of guacamole on a burger is a great option if you want to make your burger recipe a little fresher. Guacamole is a great healthy alternative to cheese and/or mayo. It’s creamy and full of flavor, it can take the place of any condiment!

4. Rice and Beans

Rice and beans is another traditional Mexican recipe, and it’s perfect topped with lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, and pico de gallo.

5. Tamales

Tamales can have a range of different flavors, from sweet, to savory or even spicy. Guacamole pairs well with any tamale flavor, and it is even better with some pico de gallo to go along with it!

6. Avocado Toast

This one is kind of a no-brainer. Guacamole may have more ingredients and flavors than the plain avocado that typically tops toast, but it still makes an amazing substitution for some extra flavor! Sprinkle some red pepper flakes on top if you like a little heat!

7. Baked Sweet Potatoes

There’s something about the sweet flavor of a baked sweet potato and the tangy flavor of guacamole that just complement each other. This is such an easy and really healthy combination.

8. Sweet Potato Chips

Sweet potato chips are a great pairing for guacamole as an appetizer. Especially homemade sweet potato chips, which are so easy to make! Slice them thinly, season with salt and pepper, and toss them in the air fryer.

9. Baked Potato

Make a loaded baked potato, Mexican style! Think taco fillings but in a baked potato instead corn tortillas. It’s delicious, filling, and the perfect use for guacamole!

10. Fresh Vegetables

Fresh veggies like celery sticks, carrots, tomatoes, and broccoli are great for dipping in guacamole and could be served alongside the sweet potato chips we talked about already. Having a few dipping options with your homemade guacamole recipe in an appetizer spread will appeal to more of your guests.

11. Salads

If you want to make a Mexican salad or just a regular salad but skip the salad dressing, guacamole is perfect as a dressing! It’s creamy and coats all of the salad ingredients for a very satisfying flavor and texture.

12. Fish or Shrimp Ceviche

Ceviche is a traditional South American dish that’s made of fish, citrus juice, and spices. The citrus juice is used to “cook” the fish, which ends up with a light and crispy texture.. It is typically served with guacamole because the creamy texture of the guacamole complements the tender and tart taste of the fish.

13. Pita chips

Another really simple option to serve with guacamole is homemade pita chips. These are so easy, just cut them into triangles or strips and air fry them. They don’t need any seasoning at all, but you can always add something if you want to. You could also make your own low-carb tortilla chips if you’re trying to go a little healthier!

14. Plantains

Plantains are a member of the banana family, but they’re much starchier and have a milder flavor than normal bananas. They’re not eaten raw like a regular banana, they’re sliced and fried, making plantain chips. Because of their texture and mild flavor, they’re a fantastic pairing with guacamole.

15. Tacos

I can’t talk about what to eat with guacamole without mentioning tacos. The cool flavor of guacamole mixed with the simple ingredients in tacos is one of the classic combos that just works.

16. Burrito Bowls

Burrito bowls are good with guacamole because guacamole fits perfectly with the common ingredients in the bowl, like rice, black beans, corn, and tomatoes. Burrito bowls tend to have a Mexican flavor, and the creamy guacamole is like a dressing that prevents the bowl from being too dry. You can also add a little sour cream and salsa!

17. Bagel Breakfast Sandwich

A bagel with guacamole and a fried egg is one of the most delicious ways to enjoy guacamole. An over-easy egg with some bacon and guacamole on a bagel will be a combination of your new favorite things once you try it! If you aren’t a fan of runny egg yolks, make those eggs well done or even scramble them, it’s still an amazing flavor combo!
