Reheating leftovers and throwing some of your favorite sides like in with it make a nice easy meal for a busy weeknight. Check out these tips for reheating and a variety of ways to get it done and enjoy your leftovers below!

Tips for Reheating Pork Tenderloin

  • Use a meat thermometer: Invest in an instant read thermometer to accurately monitor the internal temperature of the pork. Reheat it to an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C), which is the safe temperature for pork. A thermometer helps make sure there are no cold spots in the middle of the meat that you can easily miss with just a touch test.
  • Slice it before reheating: Slicing the pork tenderloin into smaller pieces before reheating it can help it heat more evenly. This way, you’re less likely to overcook the exterior while trying to heat the center.
  • Add moisture: Pork tenderloin is a lean meat which means you won’t get much in the way of cooking juices from excess fat and it can easily dry out during reheating. To prevent this, you can place a small dish of water, veggie broth, or chicken broth in the oven or microwave when reheating. Cover the dish with a microwave-safe cover or use a slightly damp paper towel when reheating in the microwave to add moisture.
  • Use a microwave-safe cover: For best results when reheating in the microwave, cover the pork tenderloin with a microwave-safe lid or microwave-safe wrap to help trap steam and moisture. You can also use wet paper towels to do the job!
  • Reheat at a lower power: When using a microwave, reheat on a lower power setting (around 50-70%) to avoid overheating and drying out the meat. This allows for more even reheating. Low to medium heat is always a great option for the stove top. The right temperature while reheating will make a difference in the texture of the finished product.
  • Add a sauce or gravy: Reheating pork tenderloin with a flavorful sauce like barbecue sauce or easy cornstarch gravy can help maintain moisture and add extra flavor. Pour the sauce or gravy over the slices before reheating or heat them together.

Remember that the specific reheating method you choose will depend on your equipment and preferences. Following these tips will help you maintain the pork tenderloin’s tenderness and flavor during the reheating process.

How to Reheat Pork Tenderloin

Reheated pork tenderloin can be just as delicious as it was fresh! Choose your favorite method from below and you’ll end up with tender meat that tastes like it was just made.

Oven Method

This method is great for whole or sliced leftover pork tenderloin.

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. Take the pork tenderloin out of the fridge and let it sit at room temperature for about 10-15 minutes.
  3. Place the tenderloin on an oven-safe dish, pour in a little water or veggie broth, just enough to cover the bottom of the pan, and cover it loosely with aluminum foil.
  4. Heat in the oven for about 10-15 minutes for sliced tenderloin and 20-25 minutes for whole tenderloin, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F.
  5. Take it out of the oven and let the meat rest for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

Stovetop Method

The stovetop method is, in my opinion, the best way to reheat sliced tenderloin. You have more control over the process and it’s quick and easy.

  1. In a skillet or frying pan, heat 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil or butter over medium-high heat.
  2. Place the pork loin in the hot skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until it is heated through.
  3. Use a meat thermometer to make sure the internal temperature reaches 145°F.
  4. Take the pork tenderloin out of the pan and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Microwave Method

Yes, you can reheat pork tenderloin in the microwave without it turning to rubber, if you do it the right way! For this easy method, be sure to start by removing the pork tenderloin from the fridge and letting it come to room temperature for about 10-15 minutes.

I don’t suggest reheating a whole pork tenderloin in the microwave, just because it will take so long to heat all the way through and can get really dry.

  1. Place the tenderloin on a microwave-safe dish and cover it with a damp paper towel to prevent it from drying out.
  2. Microwave the tenderloin on medium heat for 1-2 minutes, depending on the size of the meat. Check if it is heated through by inserting a thermometer in the thickest part, which should read at least 145°F.
  3. If it needs more time, rewet the paper towel and microwave in 30-second intervals until it reaches the desired temperature.
  4. Once heated, let the pork tenderloin rest for a couple of minutes before slicing and serving.
