Description

Delight in the soft, pillowy texture of these easy dinner rolls, perfect for sopping up sauces or enjoying on their own with a pat of butter.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 – 5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons instant yeast
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1½ cups warm milk, 100-110 degrees F
  • 5 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 egg, room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine 3 cups of flour, instant yeast, granulated sugar, salt, warm milk, softened butter, and room temperature egg.
  3. Using a dough hook attachment on the lowest speed, mix until the flour is fully incorporated, scraping down the sides of the bowl with a spatula as necessary. Increase the speed to medium and beat for 2 minutes.
  4. Add 1/2 cup of flour at a time, blending with the dough hook until incorporated. Repeat until you’ve added a total of 4 to 4 ½ cups of flour, mixing at medium speed for another 2 minutes until a soft and slightly sticky dough ball is formed.
  5. Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl, cover with a towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise for 30 minutes at room temperature until doubled in size.
  6. After the dough has risen, deflate it by gently punching it down. Pinch off pieces of dough and form 24 rolls, making sure they are perfectly smooth on top for the best appearance.
  7. Place the formed rolls in a lightly greased 9 x 13 baking dish. Cover with a towel or plastic wrap and let them rise for an additional 30 minutes at room temperature.
  8. Bake the rolls for 12 to 15 minutes or until they turn golden brown and are cooked through. If the tops of the rolls are getting too brown, you can tent them with foil to prevent over-browning.
  9. Once out of the oven, brush the freshly baked rolls with melted butter for an extra layer of flavor and irresistible shine.
