Description

Strawberry Sweet Tea is a refreshing summer drink made with fresh berries and a few simple ingredients. This tasty drink is sure to be a summer staple!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 family-sized black tea bags
  • 3 cups fresh sliced or frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 5 cups water (divided)

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a pot. Once boiling, remove from heat and add the black tea bags. Let the tea steep in the hot water for about 5-7 minutes. Remove the tea bags and allow the tea to cool.
  2. Meanwhile, in a separate medium saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries and granulated sugar along with one cup of water. Heat the mixture over medium heat to a boil then reduce heat to a simmer, stirring occasionally, for about 15 minutes until the strawberries have softened and released their juices, and the sugar has dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  3. Strain the cooled strawberry syrup through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove any solids, leaving you with a smooth homemade strawberry syrup.
  4. In a large pitcher, combine the brewed tea and the strawberry syrup. Stir well to mix.
  5. Taste the sweet tea and adjust the sweetness by adding more strawberry syrup or sugar or diluting it with more water, as desired.
  6. Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the strawberry sweet tea over the ice.
  7. Garnish each glass with a fresh mint leaf and a strawberry slice for a pretty presentation.
