Description
Garlic rice is a simple and flavorful side dish made by sauteing garlic in oil, then adding rice and vermicelli. The rice is simmered until cooked through, resulting in fluffy grains infused with garlic aroma. Enjoy it with your favorite protein or vegetables!
Ingredients
- 2 cups basmati rice
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

6 cloves garlic, minced

1/3 cup vermicelli

4 cups water

½ teaspoon salt

parsley or cilantro, optional for serving
Instructions
- Wash the rice at least 5 times, or until the water isn’t cloudy anymore.
- Mince your garlic.
- In a medium size pot, over medium size heat, heat the oil. Once the oil is hot, add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, stirring often, or until fragrant.
- Add the vermicelli and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes stirring continuously, or until the garlic and vermicelli are golden brown.
- Add the washed rice, water, and salt to the pot. Stir to combine.
- Bring the rice to a boil, then reduce heat and cover. Cook for 16 minutes or until water is absorbed.
- Remove from the stove and stir before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley or cilantro if desired.
