Description

This Caramelized Onion Dip is smooth, savory, and bursting with deep, sweet onion flavor. It’s simple to make yet tastes like an appetizer you’d find at a grocery store, perfect for parties, game nights, or just snacking!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 yellow onions
  • 4-ounces cream cheese
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tablepsoon unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon chives, sliced
  • ¼ teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper, or to taste

Instructions

  1. Peel and thinly slice the onions.
  2. On medium-high heat, melt the butter and add the sliced onions. Stir occasionally. Lower the heat when they start to brown. Then cook some more on medium-low heat. This process can take about 20-25 minutes.
  3. In a food processor, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, and mayonnaise. Season with salt and pepper, then process until smooth.
  4. Once the onions are caramelized, let them cool for 5 minutes. Add them to the dip in the processor and pulse briefly to mix them in.
  5. Serve with chips and enjoy!
