- 2 tablespoon unsalted butter
- ¼ cup red onion or sweet onion, diced
- 1 cup chopped shredded carrots
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon white pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 1 ½ cup chicken broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 1/2–2 cups chopped broccoli
- ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Over medium heat, add butter to a skillet or dutch oven.
- Add carrots, onion, and orzo. Mix well, then add the seasonings.
- Cook for 1-2 minutes, then add the broccoli.
- Once coated in seasonings and butter, add the chicken broth.
- Cook for 9-10 minutes until the pasta is tender.
- Add heavy cream and cheese, and stir.
- Cook for an additional 4-6 minutes until the cheese is melted and creamy.
