Description

A warming and satisfying ground beef potato casserole, layered with ground beef, potatoes, and a creamy sauce. Perfect for a quick and easy weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef lean
  • ½ cup yellow onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 3 cups potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Spray a 2-quart baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. Brown ground beef in a large skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks, typically 5 to 7 minutes. Drain off and discard any excess grease. Return to the skillet and add onion, cook until onion is translucent and soft.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. In the prepared baking dish, layer sliced potatoes, soup mixture, and ground beef. Repeat.
  5. Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake until the potatoes are tender, about 90 minutes. Once potatoes are fork-tender, sprinkle the top of the casserole with cheese and continue baking for 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
