A warming and satisfying ground beef potato casserole, layered with ground beef, potatoes, and a creamy sauce. Perfect for a quick and easy weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef lean
- ½ cup yellow onion, diced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- ¾ cup milk
- 3 cups potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Spray a 2-quart baking dish with nonstick spray.
- Brown ground beef in a large skillet, breaking it apart as it cooks, typically 5 to 7 minutes. Drain off and discard any excess grease. Return to the skillet and add onion, cook until onion is translucent and soft.
- In a medium bowl, combine the soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- In the prepared baking dish, layer sliced potatoes, soup mixture, and ground beef. Repeat.
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake until the potatoes are tender, about 90 minutes. Once potatoes are fork-tender, sprinkle the top of the casserole with cheese and continue baking for 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
