Description

German Chocolate Frosting Brownies are the ultimate mashup of rich, fudgy brownies and that classic coconut pecan topping everyone loves. Soft, chewy layers meet a thick, gooey frosting for a dessert that feels extra special without extra effort. Perfect for parties, holidays, or anytime you’re craving something sweet and indulgent.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (16.3 oz) fudge boxed brownie mix, plus ingredients listed on the box
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 3 egg yolks
  • ¾ cup evaporated milk

  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup unsweetened shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the brownie batter according to the package instructions. Bake in a 9×9-inch baking dish as directed.
  2. Meanwhile, place the chopped pecans, coconut, and salt in a heat-safe mixing bowl. Set aside.
  3. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, egg yolks, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract.
  4. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring constantly. Continue cooking for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring constantly, until thickened.
  5. Carefully pour the hot mixture over the pecans and coconut. Stir until fully combined and evenly coated.
  6. Let the both the brownies and the frosting cool to room temperature. The frosting will thicken as it cools.
  7. Spread the frosting evenly over the cooled brownies.
  8. Cut into bars before serving.
