- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- ¼ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 12 ounces Velveeta cheese, cubed
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon black ground pepper
Instructions
- Make a roux – melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and whisk together for 1 minute.
- Add milk slowly while continuing to whisk. Cook for 3-5 minutes, continuing to whisk constantly, until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and add Velveeta and spices. Whisk together until the cheese is completely melted.
Notes
Store leftover cheese sauce in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat over medium-low heat in a saucepan, adding a few tablespoons of milk and stirring often.
