Description
This easy salsa verde is a vibrant green sauce made with a blend of fresh ingredients like tomatillos, cilantro, lime, and jalapeños. It offers a bright, tangy, and spicy flavor perfect for dipping chips or topping your favorite Mexican dishes.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound tomatillos, husks removed
- 2 jalapeño peppers
- 1/2 onion, roughly chopped
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/2 cup fresh cilantro leaves
- Juice of 1 lime
- Salt, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven’s broiler. Put the tomatillos and jalapeño peppers on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Broil for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until the skins are charred and blistered.
- After roasting, put the tomatillos and jalapeños in a blender or food processor. Add chopped onion, garlic cloves, fresh cilantro leaves, and lime juice. Blend until smooth, adding water if needed to get your desired thickness.
- Taste the salsa verde and add salt to taste. Adjust the spiciness by adding more jalapeño peppers for heat or removing the seeds and membranes for a milder flavor.
- Transfer the salsa verde to a bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to blend the flavors. This step is optional but can improve the taste.
- Once chilled, put the salsa verde in a serving bowl and garnish with more cilantro leaves if desired. Serve with your favorite dishes or as a condiment for any Mexican dishes.
