Description

This easy Orange Chicken recipe has tender, crispy chicken pieces drenched in a tangy, sweet orange sauce. It is family-friendly, 30-minute meal that brings a delicious restaurant-quality flavor to your dinner table.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken

  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/3 cup cornstarch
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • oil, for frying

For the Sauce

  • Juice of 2 oranges
  • ¼ cup chicken stock
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken into 1-inch pieces.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine chicken with salt, garlic powder, soy sauce, and eggs. Mix well to coat the chicken.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and cornstarch. Add this mixture to the chicken and stir until well-coated. Set aside.
  4. Mix cornstarch with water and stir to remove any clumps. Combine with orange juice, chicken stock, soy sauce, sugar, garlic powder, red chili flakes, and rice vinegar. Stir until smooth.
  5. In a large, deep frying pan, heat 2 inches of oil. Once heated, fry the chicken in batches for 3 to 5 minutes, or until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate
  6. Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, heat the sauce mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens, about 5 to 8 minutes.
  7. Toss the chicken in with the sauce until the chicken is thoroughly coated. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onion if desired.
