Description

Dutch oven beef tips deliver tender beef chunks in a rich, savory gravy, making for a meal that is both comforting and satisfying as well as easy to make. Serve them over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles for a comforting meal the entire family will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2-3 tablespoon olive oil, or vegetable oil
  • 1 pound beef stew meat
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup water + 1 tablespoon corn starch

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, toss the beef stew meat in a mix of salt, black pepper, white pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and seasoned salt until fully coated. Then, add flour and toss again.
  2. Heat oil in a Dutch oven over high heat. Add the beef, reduce to medium heat, and sear on all sides. Remove from the pot.
  3. In the same pot, add diced onions and use a wooden spoon to scrape off those flavorful brown bits on the bottom of the pan.
  4. Add Worcestershire sauce, beef broth, and the water and cornstarch mixture. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently.
  5. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook for one hour. Stir every 8-10 minutes.

Notes

  • If you can not stay at the stove to stir every 8-10 mins omit the cornstarch and only add the water during the hour of cooking, then in the last 10 minutes, bring the sauce to a boil and add a slurry (1/3 cup water and 1 tablespoon of corn starch) to thicken up the gravy, stirring frequently so it doesn’t stick.
