    Spooktacular Halloween Dinner Ideas!

    Nestle Halloween Dinner Disclosure #shop

At ages 11 and 13, I understand that my boys might fast be approaching the day that they would rather hang out on the front porch with their friends and pass out candy then dress up and trick-or-treat.  So, since this Halloween might be one of our last times painting faces, ringing doorbells, collecting candy and getting spooked, I decided that we need to celebrate with a Huge Halloween Hoopla Dinner! And with Halloween on a school night this year, I wanted to have this celebratory dinner done in under an hour!

If you are hosting a Halloween party or just want to serve a monstrous meal for your family, check out these easy Halloween dinner ideas!  They will get two thumbs up from your goblin guests!  If they have thumbs, that is!

Since pizza, bacon and cheeseburgers are three of the boy-approved food groups, when I saw the Tombstone Limited Edition bacon cheeseburger pizzas at Walmart, I knew that we hit the pizza jackpot!  The werewolf on the front of the packaging gave the pizzas spooky street cred, too!  So, I popped the pizzas in the oven and started concocting two easy Halloween treats using our favorite Nestle candy that I grabbed while I was at Walmart, too: Butterfinger bars, Nestle Crunch bars and Nerds!

First up, chomp on a chocolate tombstone and then dip crisp green apples (watch out for worms!) in Chocolate Graveyard Apple Dip!!

This delicious chocolate, candy-filled dip stirs together in just a few minutes and you can store it in the fridge until dinner is ready.  By filling individual polka dot cups, we could double dip our apple slices to our heart's content!

    2. Spread each cookie with frosting.

And be sure to keep a close eye on the purple "sprinkles" that top the Alien Egg Sugar Cookies ... did I just see one move?!

The best part about these cookies is that they are a no-stress dessert!  I gave fresh baked sugar cookies from the Walmart bakery an easy out-of-this-world makeover by using prepared frosting and grape Nerds!

Finally, to round out this delightfully disgusting dinner and fill the bottomless pits that the boys call stomachs, I served ghastly green honeydew bats!

To make these fruit bats, use a sharp knife to cut thick slices of honeydew melon.  (Just make sure the slices are not thicker than the height of your bat-shaped cookie cutter.)  Then, use the cookie cutter to cut bat shapes out of the melon, avoiding the seeds in the middle.  I was able to get three bats out of each slice of honeydew.  Cube any remaining melon and save it for lunch boxes or breakfast.

We don't drink soda (or pop for my Northern friends) very often, so since this Halloween dinner was a celebration, I found these frightfully fizzy Grapenstein sodas and had to buy them.  The bright graphics were a perfect fit for my green and purple themed dinner and we used black and white striped straws to sip!

And now, the Tombstone bacon cheeseburger is hot and bubbly, the chocolate graveyard apple dip is chilled, the alien egg cookies are waiting for hungry guests, honeydew bats have landed on a serving tray and this easy devilishly delightful Halloween dinner is served!

Go ahead ... grab a plate and dig in.  If you aren't too scared!!
