Chicken & Waffle Bowls are an unbelievably easy twist on classic chicken and waffles! Serve with honey mustard or spicy syrup for dipping and this game day appetizer is a touch down for sure!
Yep.
Those are mini waffle cone bowls. Filled with crispy popcorn chicken. And served with a teeny tiny cups of honey mustard.
This appetizer has so many of my appetizer requirements in one crazy easy dish: Mini. Minimal ingredients. Sweet + salty. Dippable.
I can’t even.
Chicken & Waffle Bowls {Game Day Appetizer}
I’m not even sure when this idea hit me. I think it was while I was waiting in line at the deli for a quick lunch pick up after Cam’s baseball game. But all of a sudden I was like popcorn chicken + mini waffle bowls = the easiest appetizer (or snack or lunch for the littles) ever.
Now, I know I probably called these Prosciutto Wrapped Breadsticks the easiest appetizer ever. Or maybe it was these 3 ingredient Crock Pot Hawaiian Lit’l Smokies? I definitely have an affinity for recipes that take the stress out of entertaining. And these Chicken & Waffle Bowls definitely fit the bill!
These are BEYOND easy. There isn’t even any cooking. So, this is more of assembly than a recipe. Which is perfect for game day when all you really want to do is watch the game and shout at the TV. (Or in my case, spend an inordinate amount of time on Pinterest and nibble game day grub.)
So, let’s assemble!
First, carefully unwrap your mini waffle cones bowls. (These are the ones I love!)
Then, line each mini waffle cone bowls with a lettuce leaf . That will help keep the bowls crispy if the chicken is warm.
Then, pile in the crispy chicken bites.
Finally, fill mini cups or small bowls with honey mustard for dipping and line them up for your guests.
Easy as 1-2-3.
These Chicken & Waffle Bowls are a delicious balance of salty and sweet. Nibble the popcorn chicken, break off a piece of the sweet waffle cone bowl, dip as desired … this is a pretty fun appetizer!
PrintChicken & Waffle Bowls {Game Day Appetizer}
Ingredients
- Mini waffle cone bowls
- Popcorn chicken (see note)
- Lettuce leaves
- Your favorite dipping sauce
Instructions
- Line each mini waffle cone bowl with a lettuce leaf. (That will help keep the bowls crispy if the chicken is warm.)
- Fill each bowl with popcorn chicken.
- Serve with small cups/bowls of your favorite dipping sauce: honey, honey mustard, spicy syrup, homemade Chick-fil-A sauce, etc.
Notes
Plan to fill each bowl with about 10-12 pieces of popcorn chicken. A large container from our deli filled 4-5 mini waffle cone bowls.
If you want to get fancy, you can serve these with spicy syrup instead of honey mustard. Or plain honey. Or spicy honey. Or make homemade Chick-fil-A sauce … YUM-O! I think a dipping sauce with a touch of sweetness is perfect since both the chicken and the waffle cone bowl will taste good dipped in it. But you know what? Go crazy and use ranch or BBQ sauce if you want to!
