Sometimes I think pork chops are under appreciated. A well-seasoned pork chop cooked until fork-tender is so delicious! I think many people shy away from pork chops because they can be chewy or tough if not properly prepared. Not this recipe! This oven baked Pork Chops and Rice recipe is absolute comfort food perfection!
Ingredients
- vegetable oil
- boneless pork chops – choose a thicker chop for the best results
- salt & pepper
- onion powder
- dried rosemary
- dried thyme
- cream of mushroom soup
- milk
- long grain white rice

Tips for Making the Best Baked Pork Chops
- Always remove the pork chops from the refrigerator at least 15 minutes before cooking to allow them to come to room temperature.
- Always season pork chops before cooking, err on the side of more seasoning than less as pork chops can tend to come out bland if not seasoned well.
- Sear the pork chops on all sides when baking them to lock in flavor and ensure they cook evenly.
How to Bake Pork Chops
- Season the pork chops generously with seasonings.
- Sear the pork chops on all sides in a skillet, then remove to a casserole dish.
- In a pot, combine milk, soup, and herbs until boiling.
- Add rice and butter and cook until butter is melted, then pour over pork chops.
- Cover with foil and bake in the oven for 2 hours.
I like to serve these with a side of veggies for a complete meal. I promise it will be your favorite pork chop recipe for years to come!

I was excited about the baked chops and rice until I the amount of butter was revealed. Yikes! This seems like a seriously unhealthy recipe. In the last 10 years America went from 30% to 42% obesity. So my ? for you is, are you being responsible in teaching a healthy lifestyle, especially in today’s culture of sit and stick your nose in a phone or iPad screen. There’s gotta be a way to make this healthier! We are a family of 10 adopted varying special needs kids, so eating mostly healthy is of importance to us. Thanks.
Great recipe loved by all, so simple to make and tasty.
