I’ve been at it again … stirring and mixing up another DIY gift to pamper someone special or even to treat yourself!  I’ve made scrubs and bath salts, but this time, I am so excited to share a silky smooth, deliciously scented Chamomile Lavender Oatmeal Milk Bath!  Stir a few tablespoons into a warm bath for a little “me time” that is the perfect  way to relax away a long day!

This would be a wonderful teacher gift or Mother’s Day gift!   After I filled up these cute bottles {love that little wooden spoon!}, I added a stamped tag to label the oatmeal milk bath and jotted down instructions on the back of the tag.  Little touches like the purple twine and a little purple ink around the edge of the tag make this even more special and it lets your recipient know that their gift is heart felt and hand made!

  • 1 cup whole fat dried milk
  • 1/4 cup baking sod
  • 1/4 cup ground oats (put 1/2 cup oats in your food processor and process until finely ground)
  • 5-7 drops therapeutic grade lavender essential oil (I love Young Living essential oils!)
  • 1/4 cup dried chamomile flowers

Stir dried milk, baking soda and ground oats together.  Add the lavender essential oil and stir together to break up any clumps.  Finally, stir in the dried chamomile flowers.  Divide oatmeal milk bath into your containers of choice.  I found the glass jars with wooden spoons at Hobby Lobby but you could of course, use mason jars!  Or if you prefer, use a coffee filter or bath tea bag to package individual sized portions of the oatmeal bath milk. To use, add about 1/2 cup of the oatmeal milk bath to warm water and stir to dissolve.

The chamomile flowers will soften a bit and float during the bath – remove them or crush them into small pieces before draining the bath tub.

Whole fat dry milk provides moisturizing and softening benefits for skin.

Oatmeal and baking soda are naturally soothing for skin – especially after too much sun.

Lavender and chamomile are both know for their relaxing aromatherapy benefits, so they are perfect partners for this milk bath. I love making my own bath and body products with my essential oils … what is your favorite homemade bath and body product to make?!

    1. Hi Brittni – I didn’t grind it up but you could. I like the look of the whole flowers but it would require that you remove them before draining the bath 🙂
