Nutella was on sale at my grocery store a few weeks ago. Buy 1, get 1 free. And somehow, two jars of the chocolate hazelnut spread of the gods ended up in my cart. Whoops. #sorrynotsorry
So what is a girl to do? Thaw out a sheet of puff pastry, whisk up an egg wash and make one of the easiest and most deliciously decadent desserts that has ever come out of my kitchen!
Nutella Turnovers & 4 More Easy Nutella Desserts
Puffy little pillows of pastry filled with nothing but Nutella … baked until that chocolate hazelnut spread is warm and melty. Oh. My. Word. And to top it off? A generous drizzle of Nutella right on top.
Wanna see how easy these Nutella Turnovers are to make? For real? I made you a quick little step-by-step video.
{I’m still trying this video thing out. Do you love videos? Hate them? I’m still working on my Shaken Together YouTube channel, but good things are coming. If you subscribe, I would love you like my 6th grade self loved New Kids on the Block. And that is A LOT!}
Dessert this easy is dangerous!!
These got two big thumbs up from Cam (my almost 16 year old). And believe me, he is one tough customer. He doesn’t really like chocolate. Or sweets in general. It’s a shame really, to be the son of a food blogger who pretty much specializes in sweet thangs.
But I think the puff pastry is what does it. The dough is not sweet, so it is a perfect blank slate to spread and fill with yummy things. I have a box of puff pastry in my freezer at all times. (My grocery store carries it in the freezer section by the frozen pound cakes and cheesecakes.) Hey, if there is a zombie apocalypse, I’m your girl for puff pastry.
Anyway, I love having it on hand for super simple rustic tarts – this blueberry lemon cheesecake tart is killer.
Just by adding a spread and giving the sheet of puff pastry a quick roll and slice, you can make savory or sweet pinwheels – cookie butter pinwheels anyone?
And now … easy turnovers!
