With a snickerdoodle cookie crust, brown sugar cream cheese, spiced apple pie filling and a drizzle of caramel, this Snickerdoodle Caramel Apple Dessert Pizza will disappear slice by sweet slice! This Fall treat was created in partnership with SPLENDA® Sweeteners as part of a sponsored partnership for Socialstars. #SplendaSweeties #SweetSwaps
Guys – can I tell you how excited I am? It finally – FINALLY – is starting to feel a little like Fall in Florida! Our evening temperatures have been creeping down into the 60s and the humidity is pretty much gone. Which makes me crave big pots of soup, steaming mugs of hot cocoa and all things pumpkin and apple! Caramel apple, in fact. On a dessert pizza. Oh, sweet heaven!
Snickerdoodle Caramel Apple Dessert Pizza
I just realized that this is the only full sized dessert pizza here at Shaken Together. How is that possible?! Pizza is one of our favorite food groups 😉 so this dessert version – lightened up a little with SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend – was a BIG hit in our house!
With just a handful of ingredients and this simple step-by-step recipe, this Snickerdoodle Caramel Apple Dessert Pizza can be sliced and served in no time!
First, mix the snickerdoodle cookie mix according to the package directions – stir the packet of cinnamon/sugar right in the dough if your mix came with one like mine did. Spread the cookie dough onto a round baking pan or baking stone. Bake according to package directions and let the crust cool once baked.
While the snickerdoodle cookie crust is baking, mix up the brown sugar cream cheese. Using a hand mixer, blend 1/4 cup of SPLENDA® Brown Sugar Blend and a pinch of salt with 8 oz. of reduced fat, softened cream cheese. I love that SPLENDA® Sweeteners offer the sweetness of sugar, without all the calories and can be used in baking, cooking, and beverage mixing. Since there were several sweet components for this cookie pizza, I also used lower sugar apple pie filling and sugar free caramel.
Spread that delicious brown sugar cream cheese over the cookie crust – leaving about 1/2 inch around the edge of the cookie like the crust of a pizza.
Spread the apple pie filling over the brown sugar cream cheese … this is getting so good!
Finally, drizzle the caramel sauce over the apples!
Slice and serve!
And if you want a slice of this Snickerdoodle Caramel Apple Dessert Pizza a la mode, by all means add a scoop of vanilla frozen yogurt!
This recipe was “taste tested” by several of our friends – yeah, I’m sure they hate when I ask them to try dessert pizza 😉 This Sweet Swap (you can find hundreds of ways to save calories with SPLENDA®’s Sweet Swaps program) got rave reviews, so chalk this one up as a Fall baking success!!
