Chocolate Dipped Donut Holes

Chocolate Dipped Donut Holes - change the sprinkles for any season! Fun for a special breakfast treat!

My boys are 12 and nearly 15.  So, that means my days of cute classroom Valentines are long gone.  No painstakingly written classmates’ names.  No stack of cards and heart shaped suckers tucked into their back packs.  No sweet little something for a secret admirer.  Mo-ooo-om, jeez!  While they may say no to a box of TMNT Valentines, but they will totally say yes to delicious little chocolate dipped donut holes, mini heart sprinkles or not!  Who wouldn’t?!

You could make your own donut holes, but I went the easy route and grabbed some at the grocery store.  And man are they dangerous.  I can walked by regular glazed donuts in the kitchen at our office all day long.  But a box of perfectly poppable donut holes?  Mayday, mayday … my will power is going down!  It must be the same ‘magic’ that is in these cookies.

Chocolate Dipped Donut Holes

Ingredients

  • 1 box of donut holes (Glazed or chocolate cake are perfect)
  • 3-4 squares of Candiquik (I used vanilla)
  • Seasonal sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
  2. Melt Candiquik according to package directions.
  3. Dip each donut hole halfway into melted Candiquik.
  4. Place on baking sheet and add sprinkles.
  5. Allow Candiquik to set.
  6. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

Easy dipping tip - most of my donut holes had one side that was a little flatter than the others. Dip the rounded part of the donut hole so that you can set the dipped donut holes on that flat side.

I forgot to count how many donut holes were in the box I purchased {one to dip, one for me, two to dip, one for me …} but I was able to dip the whole box of donut holes in the melted Candiquik.  That is a whole lot of cute in just a few minutes!

Now, a good friend of mine is anti-sprinkle.  Can you imagine?!  I could put sprinkles on, oh … EVERYTHING. #sprinkleallthethings  Since these cute little donut holes couldn’t up and run away, they got a healthy dose of teeny tiny heart sprinkles.  Cute factor x 1000.

I guess for my boys, love is Chocolate Dipped Donut Holes.  And who am I to argue?
