Layered Wooden Monogram Burlap Canvas & Hometalk/Michaels Pinterest Party!!

Did you see this post on Facebook?  That’s right … in partnership with Hometalk, yours truly will be hosting a Pinterest party event at my local Michaels store in Winter Park, FL! {Could someone please pinch me?!?!}  I’ll give you a TON of information about the upcoming event – and locations all over the US and Canada hosting 99 other bloggers – but first, I just have to show you what I will be creating!!

Layered Wooden Monogram Burlap Canvas

I am in LOVE with that burlap canvas!!  And the bright pops of color are perfect to chase away any winter blahs!  I’ll be using this in our home in lieu of a wreath on our front door … I think it the perfect way to greet our guests!

Wooden Monogram Burlap canvas instead of a wreath!

This colorful canvas project was done in less than an hour!  I picked up all of my supplies at my local Michaels store … if you are a crafter, you probably already have some of these things on hand.

  • 12 x 12 stretched burlap canvas
  • Wooden scrolly wood frame
  • Wooden letter ‘B’
  • Recollections 12 x 12 Scrapbook Paper
  • Paper flower
  • Striped bakers twine (or ribbon or jute)
  • Americana Multi-Surface Satin paint in Deep Turquoise and Lipstick
  • Foam and/or regular paint brushes
  • Brown ink pad
  • Mod Podge
  • Hot glue gun & glue sticks
  • Fine grit sandpaper
  • Scissors / paper trimmer

Here is a quick picture of some of the supplies before I got crafting …

I got started by painting the scrolly wooden frame turquiose.  Then, I moved on and painted the wooden letter B, red.  While those were drying, I measured and cut the piece of paper to fit in the middle of the scrolly frame.  Using a small brown ink pad, I “inked” the edges of the paper and the scrolly frame to add a little character.  Then, I used a foam brush to Mod Podge the paper to the frame.  Once the ‘B’ was dry, I used a small piece of sandpaper to distress some of the surface and edges of the wooden letter.  Finally, I wrapped some striped twine around part of the B and hot glued on a cream colored paper flower.

Just look at all the lovely, lovely layers …

Love the bright colors and layers on this wooden monogram burlap canvas!

The final step was using the hot glue gun to glue the B to the frame and the frame to the canvas.  I just love the layered wooden monogram!  What do you think?!

    • Hi Lily – I purchased the scrolly wooden frame from my local Michael’s craft store. You might be able to purchase one or find something similar online. Hope that helps!

  22. JaneEllen says:

Did you buy the canvas with burlap already on it? Have same size canvas so will wrap burlap on it myself. Also have one of those frames, just have to get the letter. Have lots of paper so will find a sheet I like for this. Don’t know if our Michaels had that special day or not, I missed it darned it. Ah well will have my own special day.
Our Michaels has the paint but not much of a selection ever. They aren’t too good about keeping up with new ideas or products. Maybe I’ll have to buy thru Michaels online. Hate to pay s&h but could save on gas instead. Happy summer days
