{taste this} hot chocolate floats

With all of the recent sad news and tragic events, I find it tough to jump back into “regular life” without feeling just a little guilty … you, too?  This morning, I was really touched by a post by Beckie over at Infarrantly Creative that you may want to read … click here for “I pray, I give”.  I thought that I (and maybe you?) could all use a bit of bright, a smidge of happy and a teeny tiny treat … so I am going to post today.  Not out of disrespect or disinterest.  But just because life continues moving forward, little by little … Chris and I go back to work today, the boys will head off to school, Christmas will be here in eight days, there is still laughter and love in our household and for that, I am beyond thankful.

So, here we go … put on a holiday movie or your favorite show, pile on the couch with a good book or family photos, spend some time together with your family and maybe indulge in the most wonderful thing to cross my lips in a long time.  Okay, maybe a little dramatic, but these are SO.GOOD.  Yes, let’s {taste this}!!  Hot chocolate floats!!

There is nothing better than a rich mug of hot chocolate on a cold night, right?!  Well, unless it is topped with a scoop of ice cream, sprinkles and maybe a drizzle of hot fudge!

Whip up a batch of hot chocolate – you can use instant mix, I won’t judge - but there are tons of easy recipes for homemade hot chocolate that will probably rock your socks off :)  I am dying to try this hot chocolate mix from Something Swanky!

Anyway, gather your mugs and fill about 2/3 full with your hot chocolate.  Add a scoop of ice cream (we used peppermint!) and sprinkle on your favorite toppings.  I added a drizzle of warm hot fudge and festive holiday sprinkles!

This is seriously the best of both worlds … an ice cream sundae and a sweet steamy mug of hot chocolate!!

Need a little more holiday cheer?  And sugar?  How about …

This project or recipe was shared at all the blogs on my Link page! Go take a peek … they rock!
