Have you been following our handmade holidays guest post series?!

Melissa from The Alchemist made edible gingerbread gift tags!
Hillary from Because my Life is Fascinating shared her 365 Days of Inspiration jar!

And today, I am so excited to welcome Alecia from Chicken Scratch NY!!  Sometimes, when I think my life is a zoo, I read one of her posts and realize that she just might have me beat ;)  You may not know this, but I grew up in a rural part of Florida with a pig, duck, rabbit, 3 cats and a parakeet, so I actually can relate!!

Here are a few of my favorite holiday projects that she has shared recently!

Hello Shaken Together readers! My name is Alecia, my online home is Chicken Scratch NY and I am nowhere near ready for Christmas! I’m a serious crafter, I love the holidays and I always go all out for Christmas.  I love simple projects, homemade gifts and my family. I share a lot of projects, gardening tips and lots of stories about my life surrounded by farm animals: ducks, chickens, turkeys, two alpacas and two cows and a small zoos worth of house pets (including my husband).

Shaken Together was one of the blogs I read before I had any intentions of starting my own so it’s a big honor to be here today!

This is a quick and easy gift featuring one of Keri’s favorite crafting supplies, Mason Jars! It is perfect for popcorn lovers and would make a nice stocking-stuffer or hostess gift. You could also dress it up more with a jar of gourmet salt and a few fun seasonings.

You will need: one mason jar with a two piece lid, red and white popcorn, paper for the top and a gift tag.
(I get my specialty popcorn from a local Amish market but you can probably order it online.)
Start with a clean jar and layer the red and white popcorn until the jar is full, make it as full as possible! If the jar isn’t full the popcorn will shift and you’ll lose your nice lines.
Put on the lid, sandwiching the paper between the flat part and the rim. Tie on the tag (personalize with a message or instructions) and kick back with a nice mug of cocoa!

Thanks to Keri  for letting me take over Shaken Together today! I’d love to see you over at Chicken Scratch

or you can find me on Facebook!  Happy Holidays!

Alecia hit the nail on the head – if there is a mason jar involved, then it is just about perfect!!  This idea is so simple but would be a wonderful gift for your neighborhood families, coworkers or teachers!  The red and white popcorn is SO pretty (and festive!) and I love the idea of adding some popcorn seasonings or gourmet salt in a pretty popcorn bowl!

This handmade holidays series wraps up next week and I hope you have enjoyed all of the heart felt ideas that have been shared!!
