{try this} banana berry green smoothie recipe

Okay, so I know green smoothies are all the rage ... and maybe I'm a little late to the party, but I thought I would share my take on this popular morning smoothie!

{Try this} banana berry green smoothie for breakfast!

In the pitcher of your blender, add:

6 - 8 oz. unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 tablespoon almond butter
1/3 cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt (or just a big ol' spoonful)
1 small banana
1/3 cup frozen mixed berries (or your favorite frozen berry)
1 or 2 large handfuls of fresh spinach (depending on how green you want your smoothie)
4 or 5 ice cubes

Blend WELL and sip for breakfast.

I've added kale with the spinach a time or two and kale is a little tougher and a bit more bitter, but it has such good green vitamins!  I would say it is not for the green smoothie newbies :)

Why the Greek yogurt and almond butter?  Those add just enough protein to hold me over until lunch time and add a bit more substance to the smoothie.  The frozen berries and the banana add a nice sweetness and I promise ... you can't even taste the spinach!

Do you have a favorite green smoothie?  Or a secret ingredient that takes your green smoothie over the top?  Share and share alike ... leave me a comment so I can give your recipe a whirl!!

Okay, so I don't have any other smoothie recipes to share ... but how about a few green things?!  (Is that a stretch? ha ha!)

  4. Why is it that everything healthy has to be green. Why can't they be pink or blue??? I charge you with that challenge...a cottoncandy colored healthy food! This tastes good, I bet.
