rustic wooden candy corn banner

Several months ago, I was tempted by Pick Your Plum … you  know about PYP, right?  Each day there is a sweet deal on crafting, clothing, baking supplies, home decor and other fabulous finds – when it’s gone, it’s gone, so pick it up quick!  Now, you can even see the daily deal on my blog (look left!)!!

Anyway, I was lucky enough to score several packs of cute little wooden pennants for a song … and then they sat and sat and sat in my craft room.

Ahhh, but Fall rolled around and it hit me … candy corn!!  And this quick Fall banner was painted, inked and fancied up with ribbon in under 3o minutes!  Need a quick, adorable craft for Fall?  Then you’ll want to {create this} rustic wooden candy corn banner!!

Here is what I used to make this sweet little banner:

I painted each wooden pennant with acrylic paint stripes – orange, yellow and pale cream.  Once dry, I inked the edges of each pennant (surprise, surprise, ha ha!) and strung them on white twine.  Just FYI, while I thought jute or jute twine would be the perfect rustic touch, the just was a little too stiff and the banner didn’t hang nicely.  Finally, I knotted orange, yellow and white ribbons between each candy corn pennant.

This would be perfect for any Fall or Halloween mantel, hung on a picture frame or mirror to add a touch of whimsical candy corn fun or added to any celebration.  I mean, it’s candy corn?!  Does it get any cuter?!
