{create this} sweet spring birdcage

I know ... it has been too long since my last {create this} post ... I'm sorry!

I've been baking  and doing laundry and shuttling The Bugs to baseball practice/games 6 days a week and catering to a cranky, immobile Saint.  What little time I do have has been spent whipping up heavenly desserts to help me get through the day in a sugar-induced coma, ha ha.

SO ... thanks so much if you've stuck around!  Will you ever forgive me?  What if I show you this sweet little Spring-y bird cage all decked out in ribbons and bunting?!   Yep - FINALLY - it is time to {create this}!!

I have mentioned it before, but our last name starts with a B and I love decorating with birds, so our dining room is all bright colors, birds and Bs ... get it?  The birds and the Bs?

SO ... I have been on the hunt for an inexpensive bird cage to add to the hodge podge in my dining room.  And I found one ... for $6!!  In a funky little vintage shop that is one of my new favorite places.

I love the simplicity but it did need just a little umph if you will!  Am I right?

So, a little while ago, I was SUPER excited to find out that I had won a Cupcakes & Tea prize pack from Cocoa Daisy via Ali Edwards' blog ... SO sweet!  And the paper inside was gorgeous ... so bright and vibrant and gorgeous (right, I already said that!) and I just had to make something with it.

I grabbed some ribbons, twine, scrapbook paper, adhesive and paper punches and got down to business!

Let's start with the bunting.  Really, this is SO easy!  I made this cute Spring time bunting by cutting strips of paper in various widths and lengths.  I inked the edges of all the flags, trimmed/punch the bottom of each flag and folded each one over the twine, adhering them to the twine.  Then, I just draped it around each side of  birdcage.

Then, I decked out the wire top and tied on lengths of brightly colored ribbon ... lots of ribbons!  So bright and cherry and perfectly unplanned ... a little frayed, a little long, a little short!  Just knotted on here and there!

Easy, adorable, brightly colored and perfect for my dining room!  The bunting would be cute between two skewers on top of a cake, added to a scrapbook page or SmashBook or just draped here, there and everywhere!

Really though, thanks for sticking it out as I find my balance with my blog, The Saint, work, life, Bugs and baseball.  I am so glad you are here and I hope you decide to come back!!

  6. I love banners and buntings and this one is adorable! Your definitely added the missing 'something' with your bunting and ribbons. I keep seeing decor that includes a birdcage and I'm kicking myself for not picking one up a little while back.

Would love for you to stop my blog!
